The 8-song CD is being produced and distributed by Lumina Records, release date in the Second half of 2009.
The first single two singles, A Warnin & Ya Gotta Luv It, is available now. It’s sure to have you singing along and dancing!
Songwriter/Singer/Saxophonist/Producer, Stev Fair: “Our fans have waited too long for this CD, but we wanted to take our time and get it right. I think the time is right for a song like this. Only time will tell. All I know is that I’m having a ball writing and producing this music. I get to play alongside my boyhood buddy, pianist and composer, Pete Martinez, Multi-Talented Musician Spence Beamon and Grammy-nominated percussionist and master artist, Jerry LeDuff, among other studio musicians who I just love.”
Fair’s songwriting is geared around rich and full melodies. His compositions do not hide the message behind ear-pleasing sounds that do nothing for the mind and heart. Fair formed his first R&B band with Martinez at 14 years old, and was educated as a classical saxophonist. If you are familiar with the sounds of Carlos Santana, Sting, Seal, Level 42, then you’ll love FAIRWARNIN.
Stev Fair: “Music brings people together, and that is why I LOVE it. I think I write as a social critic at times, because of the messages I picked up from artists who really had something to say about everyday life. To take that message and make it sound beautiful is indeed the challenge that keeps me going. Music serves as the most universal form of communicating. What better way to make a difference to such a large and diverse group of people.”
It all started when Stev Fair (Songwriter/Singer/Saxophonist) and Pete Martinez (Keyboardist/Arranger) met in kindergarden! Lifetime buddies they grew up taking every class together through school. Growing in a small suburb of Detroit, they honed their production skills early on, forming their first band at age 14. Stev started out on the flute at age eight, later moving on to the sax. Both trained under the legendary classical musician and teacher Alex Campbell. Campbell’s band’s toured extensively throughout the USA and several of his musicians have gone on to become major artists. While attending Wayne State University in Detroit, Stev would head down to the legendary “Rappa House” near the old Motown headquarters and sit in with R&B and Jazz greats like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Bill Withers, and Gil-Scott-Heron after their shows were finished. The experience from those sessions were very useful and insightful, with the seasoned musicians generously sharing advice and friendship.
